Updated COVID-19 Requirements effective September 18, 2021

* Face coverings will be encouraged but not required in the Student Development Complex, MacInnes Student Ice Arena, Gates Tennis Center, Nordic Ski Wax Center, and other Athletic and Recreation facilities.

Summer 2021 Schedule: May 16 - August 29, 2021

Schedule subject to change without notice. The schedule may be reduced during University holidays and breaks.

  • May 16 - June 27, Sunday 3-4:50p
  • July 2 - 30, Friday 5-6:50p
  • August 8 - 29, Sunday 3-4:50p (No public skating August 22.)

    2021-2022 Schedule: September 12, 2021 - March 27, 2022


    Schedule subject to change without notice. The schedule may be reduced during University holidays and breaks. No public skating November 21 & 28, December 19 & 26, January 2 & 9.


    Sundays, 6:30 pm-8:50 pm

    Cost


  • Free to Michigan Tech students, SDC members, and action pass holders
  • $5 Daily passes are sold at the SDC Ticket Office

    Requirements for Entry

  • Valid Michigan Tech student ID, SDC Membership ID, or SDC Action Pass.
  • Purchase a $5 daily Public skate session pass
  • Hockey or bicycle helmet (A small number of helmets are available for issue. Please note availability is not guaranteed.)
  • Skates (no rental available)

    All patrons must first go to the Ticket Office to verify membership status (or make payment). All patrons will receive a dated wristband to put on at the ticket window and show the Skate Guard for admission to the ice.

    Rules


    Obey the Skate Guards' instructions, or you could lose your skating privileges.

  • Maximum 175 participants.
  • MTU is not responsible for personal belongings and lost or stolen items.
  • Locker rooms will not be available, but an area to put skates on will be provided.
  • You must have ice skates on at all times when you are on the ice.
  • Figure skating tricks should be done in the center, not near the edges.
  • No hockey sticks, pucks, or balls.
  • No skating against traffic.
  • No sitting on boards or throwing objects on ice (ie snowballs).
  • No speed skating, pushing, pulling, trains, conga lines, chase or tag games.
  • No food or beverages are allowed on the ice.
  • No abusive or profane language.
  • No tobacco (smoked or chew).

    THESE RULES AND REGULATIONS HAVE BEEN DEVELOPED FOR YOUR SAFETY AND EQUAL ENJOYMENT OF THE FACILITY.
