COVID-19 Health and Safety Plan

For the protection of all participants, we anticipate there will be COVID-related health and safety guidelines in place when these camps begin. Our goal is to provide you as much information as we can in a timely manner. Because we expect that CDC, State, and University guidelines and recommendations could change between now and June, our initial health and safety plans will be released in mid-to-late May and will be updated as necessary throughout the summer.

Camp Overview

The Michigan Tech Soccer Identification Clinic will provide players with a greater understanding of the demands of a Division II women's soccer program. Players will receive college-level training with exposure to advanced technical and tactical field sessions, a strength and conditioning session, and informational panels where they can ask questions of players and coaches. Campers will have an opportunity to work with the Michigan Tech coaching staff as well as be able to interact with current Michigan Tech Women's Soccer team members. This clinic will give the campers a realistic picture of what it means to compete at this level.

NOTE: Camp size is limited to 44 players and 5 goalies.

What to Expect

Our camp is intensive and games and scrimmages are highly competitive to keep all players challenged. Come prepared to run drills, face off in small-sides games, and perfect your technique. Outdoor training sessions will be held on Sherman Field, but in case of rain, camp may be held in the SDC Multipurpose Room.

Special Requirements

This camp is open to girls entering grades 10-12 as of Fall 2021. Campers should bring shin guards, soccer shoes and tennis shoes, a soccer ball with a name clearly printed on it, a water bottle, and clothing for all weather. A packet of required forms will be sent to participants via email once they are registered. The required forms must be submitted prior to the start of camp.

Meet the Coaches

Bulut Ozturk, Head Coach, Michigan Tech Women's Soccer

Bulut (Turk) Ozturk was named as the new head coach of the women's soccer program at Michigan Tech in November 2020. Ozturk brings five seasons of collegiate coaching experience to the Huskies, with 2019-2020 seasons at NCAA Division I institutions. He spent the 2019-2020 season as a volunteer assistant coach at the University of Tennessee and had a brief stint with Northwestern University in 2020 before being hired at Michigan Tech. Over his tenure, Ozturk helped guide the Volunteers to their fifth straight winning season and assisted with player video management and feedback for coaching staff consumption at Northwestern. Ozturk spent 15 years coaching semi-professional, club, and high school soccer in the Twin Cities in Minnesota. At the club and high school level, Ozturk was a part of seven state championships as a head coach. Ozturk also captured four state championships as a club coach, serving as the director of coaching for multiple clubs: Dakota REV, Minnesota Thunder Academy, and Minnesota Twin Stars FC.

Cora Essenmacher, Assistant Coach, Michigan Tech Women's Soccer

Cora Essenmacher was named assistant soccer coach in February 2021. Prior to her tenure at Michigan Tech, Essenmacher was director of soccer operations for two men's semi-professional clubs including Lansing United and AFC-Ann Arbor.
